Spot Terms of Service

Effective and last updated: 2026-11-05.

In short: Spot is a shared grocery list for two people. Use it lawfully and respectfully. Your lists and photos stay yours. Lists are deleted automatically after 31 days unless you pin them with Premium. Premium is a subscription you buy and cancel in Google Play. If you live in the EU, you keep all your consumer rights. These Terms prevail over any summary of them elsewhere, including this one and the About page.

1. Who we are

Spot is operated by Tarek Youssef Abdelhafith Bohdima, an individual trader based in Bucharest, Romania ("we", "us"). Contact: support@spotgrocery.com. Our postal address is shown on Spot's developer page on Google Play.

2. What Spot is

Spot is an Android app for keeping a grocery list that two people share in real time. When you're not sure which item to buy, you can take a photo of it and send it to your partner, who approves it ("Spot On") or rejects it ("Veto") before you buy. Each list is shared between two people who invite each other. With Premium you can also share a list template as a link with anyone, who can then copy it into their own Spot.

3. Who can use Spot

You must be at least 13 years old, or 16 if you live in an EU country that sets 16 as the age for digital consent. By using Spot, you confirm that you meet this age limit.

4. Your account

You can use Spot as a guest, without an account. A guest session lives only on your device: if you uninstall Spot, sign out or lose the device, the guest's lists are gone and cannot be recovered, by you or by us. To share a list with a partner, you need an account with an email address and password. Keep your password safe; you are responsible for what happens under your account. You can delete your account at any time, as described at https://spotgrocery.com/legal/delete-account.

5. Your lists and how long they last

Lists are not permanent storage. A list is deleted automatically and permanently 31 days after it was created, unless it is pinned with Premium. Pinned Premium lists do not expire. If a list stops being pinned, for example when Premium ends, it keeps 31 more days from that point so you have time to act on it. You can also delete a list yourself at any time. Deletion is permanent, and we cannot restore a deleted list.

6. Encrypted content

Some list content is end-to-end encrypted: it is encrypted on your device with keys that only the devices on that list hold. Our Privacy Policy explains which content this covers. We cannot read encrypted content, and so we cannot recover it for you. If you lose your device, encrypted content on a list only you are on can be restored only with your recovery code or the device backup described in the Privacy Policy. For a shared list, your partner's device can give you access again once you are both online. Save your recovery code in Settings.

7. Your content

You keep ownership of everything you add to Spot: list and item names, notes, photos and templates. You give us permission to store, process and show that content only as needed to provide Spot to you and to the people you share it with. You are responsible for what you add and share. How we handle personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy: https://spotgrocery.com/legal/privacy.

8. Acceptable use

Use Spot lawfully and respectfully. Do not use it to:

  • upload or share illegal content, which we may report to the competent authorities where the law requires (see our Child Safety Standards);
  • harass, threaten or abuse other people;
  • share content you do not have the right to share;
  • interfere with Spot, try to access other people's data, or misuse the service.

We may remove content that breaks these Terms or the law. For serious or repeated breaches, we may suspend or close the account.

9. Reporting content

To report content you believe is illegal or breaks these Terms, use the Report option on the affected item in the app. If you are in the EU, we treat an in-app report as a notice under Article 16 of the Digital Services Act. We review substantiated reports promptly. If we remove your content, we will tell you why (a statement of reasons), unless the law prevents it. You can reply to contest the decision.

10. Spot Premium

Premium is an optional, auto-renewing subscription, billed monthly or yearly. It is sold only through Google Play, which processes the payment and handles billing, renewal and refunds under its own terms and policies. We never see your payment details. Google Play shows the current price in your local currency before you buy.

Premium gives higher limits (more lists, more items per list and more photos), pinned lists that never expire, shopping reminders, notes on items, and list templates you can save and share. One Premium subscription also covers one partner. Spot links your most recent list partner automatically, and you can change who is covered once every 30 days.

Free trial: if Google Play offers you a free trial, the subscription starts charging when the trial ends unless you cancel before then.

Renewal and cancellation: the subscription renews automatically until you cancel it. Cancel any time in Google Play (Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions). After you cancel, you and your covered partner keep Premium until the end of the period already paid for. Your limits then return to the free tier, and pinned lists can expire again as described in section 5.

Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription. Google Play keeps billing you until you cancel it there, so cancel first, then delete your account.

11. Right of withdrawal (EU consumers)

If you are a consumer in the EU, you have the right to withdraw from a Premium purchase within 14 days, without giving a reason. Premium starts as soon as you subscribe. If you withdraw after it has started, you may have to pay for the part of the period you already used, to the extent the law allows. To withdraw or ask for a refund, use Google Play's refund process or email support@spotgrocery.com and we will help. Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory rights as a consumer.

12. Changes to Spot

We work to keep Spot running and improving, but we may change, add or remove features. If we remove a feature that is part of a paid Premium subscription in a way that significantly affects you, we will tell you in advance, in the app or by email, and you can cancel.

13. Our responsibility

We provide Spot as it is and as available. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and Spot is not a backup service for important information. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses or for data lost through the automatic deletion, guest or encryption limits described above. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, for harm caused intentionally or through gross negligence, or for your rights as a consumer.

14. Ending your use of Spot

You can stop using Spot and delete your account at any time. These Terms then end, apart from the parts that by their nature continue, such as section 13.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. When we do, we update the "Last updated" date at the top. If a change materially affects you, we will tell you in the app or by email before it applies. If you don't agree with the updated Terms, you can stop using Spot and delete your account.

16. Law and disputes

These Terms are governed by Romanian law. If you are a consumer living in another EU country, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of your country, and you can bring a claim in the courts where you live. Please contact support@spotgrocery.com first, so we can try to resolve any problem directly.
